If you’re interested in more details about who we are, please join us for Starting Points, a quarterly, Sunday morning Newcomer’s class taught by Pastor John Ludka. Join us as we explore God’s plan for your life from the Bible and discover the history and purpose of Community Baptist Church.
We are located at 950 Gold Star Hwy (Rt.184), just a couple miles east of Rt. 12 in Groton, CT. Our location is only minutes from SubBase New London, and only a short drive from anywhere in the greater Groton/Mystic/New London area.
From the moment you pull into the parking lot, you’re likely to feel at home. You will find ample parking as you enter our campus. Then, our greeters will be waiting and ready to give directions or answer any questions you may have. As you enter the main doors, please feel free to stop by the Welcome Center. Our greeters will be able to give you information about the church, ministries for your family, and any upcoming events, as well as answer any questions you may have. From the lobby, you can make your way directly into the auditorium where our ushers will welcome you and direct you to your seat. Then just sit back, relax, and enjoy the service!
Connection Groups – 9:30am
Our first service of the week is an informal and interactive one. We have designed Connection Groups (small group, life-stage) so that you can connect and grow as a Disciple of Christ with others on the journey.
Adult Connection Groups are designed to help you grow in grace and build strong Christian friendships. There’s a class designed for you and we hope you will visit a class this Sunday meeting in our gymnsaium at 9:30am!
Sunday Morning Service – 10:30am
Our main service of the week. We sing encouraging choruses and hymns, both old and new, before hearing a message from the Word of God explained and applied to our lives by Pastor Ludka.
Sunday Evening Service – 5:00pm
We love Sunday nights at CBC. We consider it “family night.” The service by nature is a little different than Sunday mornings, though the format is nearly the same. We hear a relevant message from the Word of God, enjoy special music, and always have a great time of fellowship following the evening service.
Note: The Last Sunday of the month, we meet in the afternoon for Home Connection Groups (school year), or Church Picnics (summer). On these Sundays, there is no Sunday evening service.
Wednesday Service / Enhance Classes – 7:00pm
On Wednesday nights, we offer Enhance Classes. These practical, small-group studies are designed to enhance your Christian life. We have designed these studies to allow interactive teaching and discussions on relevant topics; such as, parenting, finance, discipleship, Christian growth, etc. After you drop off your children in one of our nurseries or for Bible Adventure Club (our Wednesday night children’s program), join us in the auditorium for a song and announcements then we will break up throughout the building into our small-group, Enhance Classes.
We finish the night with a time of sharing praises and prayer requests before breaking off into pairs or small groups to pray.
You’ll find first-class programs for your children, from birth through 6th grade. For infants and toddlers a loving nursery is provided in a clean and safe environment. When you arrive our ushers will help you find the nurseries located near the auditorium. If you have a child 3-5 Yrs old, we have a special hour planned for them with Bible lessons, snacks, crafts, and much more!! For children in grades K-6, Super Church is a fun-filled, activity packed hour. Kids Super Church meets in the gymnasium.
We sure do! We offer everything from Sunday classes to monthly activities, annual retreats, and programs. Each year, the teens can look forward to camps, trips, outreach events, fun activities, and many opportunities to grow in God’s Word. We do everything within our power to provide the Bible-based wisdom that teens need, combined with the friendly atmosphere that teens enjoy. Below are just a few of the many events we have to offer for teenagers, through our ARISE youth ministry of our church.
- Monthly youth activities
- Summer camp
- Winter youth retreats
- Opportunities to serve in our community
Plan on arriving at least 15 minutes before the service starts. That will give you time to park, check your kids in to their classrooms and grab a cup of coffee before the service begins. Then you’ll want to make sure you get into the auditorium before the music starts. We’ll give you a heads up when we’re about to begin.
